Opioid Prescribing and Monitoring
Dr. Alden Roberts

Dr. Alden Roberts, citizen of Clark County and the Chair of the Medical Commission, will review the 2017 legislation that required the creation of new opioid prescribing and monitoring rules and discuss its implications as relevant to Clark County. He will give a brief presentation on what changes to be aware of, best practices for incorporating the rules into your daily practice and how the Medical Commission handles allegations of improper prescribing. There will be an extended Q&A session to address the questions that are most pertinent to Clark County clinicians.

Clark County Public Health Measles Outbreak Response
Dr. Alan Melnick

Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County Public Health Director/Health Officer will describe the public health response to the 2019 measles outbreak. The presentation will include a summary of the cases, including the population affected, a description of surveillance and response activities, including case finding, case investigation, surveillance and control measures, as well as the cost of the response and challenges, including the public health response to misinformation spread on social media.
